Todays Black Activist!

It’s no secret that Black people in America have had a tremulous relationship with the Government and “Authority” figures altogether. From being beaten for speaking our native languages, being stripped from our original cultures and religions, to Black women being raped by slave masters to produce more slaves and separating us from our family and children, we have constantly been under attack and hunted by slave catchers- which now translates to the police.  Continue reading “Todays Black Activist!”

Mind your stimmy

Around this time last year we all were concerned about our health, safety and livelihood. Companies were laying off employees or cutting people hours drastically. Some were fortunate, so it seemed, to be able to work from home until further notice. Schools, childcare and eldercare centers were also closing until further notice, which also caused people to have to walk away from their jobs to care for their children or parents. This is only a snapshot of an exhaustive list that left many Americans wondering how they were going to live and pay their bills. Then real panic set in… tissue, lysol, soap and alcohol were all out-of-stock; along with bread and meat . We seemed to be on  the brink of food scarcity! The supply and demand equation suddenly was tested as more and more of the workforce was in limbo with if their job was secured or not!

Flying high even when you feel low

This article is dedicated to Jas Waters (Jas Fly) a prominent journalist and writer on the hit show “This is Us” who committed suicide just before the quarantine was lifted. Jas was a successful Black woman who was at the height of her career. On the outside looking in, it appeared that life for Jas was good. She was financially stable, receiving notoriety for her work, and seemingly happy and living her life. Yet, and still, she had an internal battles that she succumbed.

Politics and Police Brutality

The last two days have been very traumatic upon the Black community. I had to take some time in silence to reflect on what has happened. This video is a panel of 3 people including myself discussing the news involving Kwame Kilpatrick, and the most recent police brutality traumas. Specifically discussing Breonna Taylor and George Floyd.

The video is below. Please feel free to comment like and/or share.

Slowing it down…

We’re on lockdown right? This is just a friendly reminder that you do not have to come out of this lockdown with a new skill , a new business, or trade! I keep seeing people say that which just highlights that people love repeating things they think is trendy and/or popular. It also shows that the entire point of all this change is to FORCE YOU TO SLOW DOWN! How many times do we see people talking about they arent getting any sleep because it’s money to be made? “They are out here grinding and hustling 24/7.” Continue reading “Slowing it down…”

Female Rap

Last week I posted a video (Video is below) discussing how multiple female rappers are currently out, and releasing music. We haven’t had so many female rappers out at the same time since the 90s. In the video I forgot a lot of names of female rappers in the game right now. So, first I’d like to redefine the list of female rappers with current music in rotation. Continue reading “Female Rap”

Women in Congress you should know!

Ever since orange face has been in office I have been going out of my way to disassociate myself from the political world. I had been avoiding political conversations, Tweets, articles, in any form of media that I could think of. I mean lets face it discussing politics opens a person like myself up to be ambushed by racist.. Not just any racist but the ones that don’t think they are racist which are the worst kind in my opinion. Not to mention the things that have been happening are just utterly ridiculous and unbelievable! Continue reading “Women in Congress you should know!”

Woman to Woman

BEYOND TIRED

Listen! As a Black woman living in the USA, I am so tired! I’m tired of having to constantly defend myself. I’m tired of not being allowed to express myself in ways other women express themselves without being nailed to the cross. I’m tired of my wide nose, full lips, style of hair, and the size of my derrière being praised and glorified on women that do not look like me, share my culture, or my struggle. I’m tired of the world telling me that my thoughts and feelings do not matter! Continue reading “Woman to Woman”

Learning through reflection

The last year to date has been a transitional phase for me in so many ways. I’ve been on a spiritual journey since the end of 2016 and it entailed a lot. It required a lot from me in the process. I’ve basically been unlearning everything that I’ve been taught as “right or wrong.” Exploring the way I process information, and more importantly my self talk and doubts.
