In my mind voting is always crucial. If you’re a Black Person (Meaning any person that has African ancestry) rather you believe that your vote counts or not should understand the importance. Our people were given intellectual test, beaten, attacked by dogs, and killed for the right to vote! Even after all of that some Blacks specifically in America still were not allowed to vote. There is no doubt that the USA has a serious issue when it comes to mass school shootings. There have been 18 reported school shootings in 2018 alone, even though this is only the 2nd month of the year. There has recently been constant conversations about the latest shooting that took place in Florida, which includes the victims’ parents and other students coming forward demanding something to be done. I am disappointed in the amount of people that are on my timeline watching any NFL game. I was asked why do I want people to boycott the NFL, but not have the NFL players boycott the NFL. I never said that I didn’t want the players to boycott! In fact, I wish they would! However, they are under a contract and many of the players are young. I watched President Obama address the crisis in Syria on December 16th, 2016. The press kept asking him if he was planning to help President-Elect Trump with such matters as Syria before leaving office. They also asked numerous questions about Trump and also, if President Obama believed that the outcome of the election were due to the Russians hacking the system (This matter is being investigated by the CIA currently). The existence of Black people in this country (USA) is rooted in an extremely complicated past. By complicated, I mean children being taken from their Mothers and sold into slavery. Women being raped by the Master in order to produce more slaves. Husbands being emasculated by the Master in front of his wife and family; ultimately leaving him powerless. Did I mention women being raped in front of their husbands? Again, leaving the Black man powerless to protect her. Hundreds of years of beating, lynching, and being treated like animals has definitely taken a toll on our ethnic group as a whole.
