On the internet, it seems like everyone’s goal is to get to the bag- which is a great thing! We can’t eat, pay bills, or live without getting a bag. Money is a necessity, and I’ve come to the conclusion that enough of it is never really enough. You’ll always want more so that you can do more.
There is a point, however, when the concept of getting the bag becomes dangerous. You ever wake up and start thinking about things, which eventually turns your thinking into overthinking? The next thing you know you’ve been filled with melancholy. Then you start getting on the internet, shake off your emotions, and say “I’m just going to focus on my bag!”
Addressing and processing your internal issues can not be compensated by just focusing on work and money. Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain committing suicide over the past week solidified that being successful and rich does not satisfy a persons inner self! It’s okay to be sad because you miss a loved one. It’s also ok to be sad because you miss how your life once was. It’s totally normal to decide you don’t feel like being bothered with other humans.
You need time for you! You need time to figure out why these feelings are coming about, and you need time to figure out how you can process them. Figure out what you can do to increase your own happiness and try to do more of it. Determine what’s important to you and the things you desire that don’t come with a price tag. Acquire those things or moments.
We don’t deal with unfortunate circumstances in our lives the same way, but the key is to deal with them in some way. Pushing your unresolved issues to the side only hurts you more in the long run.
Working hard and being rich doesn’t stop painful things from happening in your life, so before you to decide to get to the bag, try caring for yourself first!
So true–money is NOT everything. These unfortunate events remind us of that truth. Thanks for sharing your advice to take care of oneself, before we “get the bag”!
